*Our estimate for a kit with 1260W of panels in a busy four-person home (someone in all day, 70% of the power used at home), south-facing and unshaded, at the Ofgem price cap rate of 26.32p per kWh (1 October to 31 December 2026). That's around £1,760 over 10 years and £3,430 over 20. Never more than 800W goes into your home. See how it's worked out.

What you won't need

  • No installer
  • No scaffolding
  • No roof work
  • No wiring into your fuse box

What you do need: a weatherproof outdoor socket within reach of the kit's cable, and modern RCD protection in your fuse box. If you don't have those, an electrician can fit or check them.

An estimate, not a promise. It assumes a south-facing, unshaded spot, about 700 kWh a year for an 800W kit (Energy Saving Trust), and the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.32p per kWh (1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026). Electricity sent to the grid isn't paid for.

How we choose kits

Delivery across Great Britain

Kits will come to your door anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales. Plug-in solar isn't allowed in Northern Ireland, so we can't send kits there, or to the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

Panels come in big, flat boxes. Plan for two people to carry one.

Delivery details

Checking a kit is compliant

Before any plug-in kit goes on sale, its exact model must show Compliant on the Energy Networks Association's Type Test Register. We'll put each kit's register reference on its listing, so you can check it yourself.

Quick answers

Can I buy a kit today?

Not yet. We're agreeing terms with makers, so every kit type shows Coming soon and Price TBC. Join the list and we'll email you when ordering opens.

Which brands will you sell?

We'll name them once terms are signed. Every model we list will be on the ENA register as Compliant and sold exactly as registered.

How much power goes into my home?

Up to 800W (799VA), whatever the panels add up to. The kit's microinverter caps it.

Do I need an electrician?

Not to set the kit up. You need a weatherproof outdoor socket within reach of the kit's cable and modern RCD protection in your fuse box. An electrician can fit or check those if you need it. For kits with more than 960W of panels, consider having your electrics checked.

Can I have more than one kit?

No. The rules allow one plug-in kit per household.
